Cocktail Hour | Clover Club

Skyler E.

It’s Spring! Well, almost. Here in Seattle the cherry blossoms are blooming and bulbs are already popping out of the ground so it’s Spring, ok? Even though it’s “Spring” here in the Pacific Northwest it’s still on the chilly side most of the time, but when the sun comes out… it’s so lovely. That’s when I start craving a spring-time cocktail, but something with a little bit of body since we’re still on the edge of winter. How about a Clover Club! It combines the sweet tartness of raspberries with the rich cream of egg white.

Before we make this drink (which is super easy by the way) let’s set the mood. I’m going to pretend I’m not in the middle of moving. That I’m not standing in the middle of a house which is half packed, cardboard boxes are not stacked almost to the ceiling, and that even though I haven’t mopped recently, my floors are spotless. Seriously though, I really need to mop.

My musings of less stressful times may be just fantasy but this drink is not, and you don’t need any good reason to make it. Treat yo’ self!

i bought this beauty at a yard sale a couple months ago. yup, you heard me right, yard sale. i usually don't even bother looking at clothing at yard sales because i never expect to find anything worthwhile. i'm usually just interested in finding treasures for my home. but then i found this. i love it, because it's vintage and flowy and of course because of the pockets. my immediate thought was to pair it with some bright red shoes, but them i remembered this orange pair i've had for years which i hardly wear. they're not the most comfortable shoes i own, but i think they go perfectly with the dress. what about you? have you ever found clothing at a yard sale you can't live without?

Throwback Thursday

i know #tbt is all the rage on instagram, but can you do a throwback thursday blog post? i was going through my computer the other night, deleting some photos, and i came across these. they were taken exactly a year ago. i spent the day at the desert botanical gardens with my in-laws, and somehow they never made it onto the blog. since i didn't have any new outfit photos to share, i thought, why not? if you ever make it to arizona in the spring, i highly recommend visiting the botanical gardens. they have so many different varieties of cactus and agave and other beautiful plants native to arizona. do you have any places in your hometown that are a must see?

Happy Spring!

i don't know about you, but i'm so excited for spring! the desert is slowly starting to bloom and soon there will be wildflowers and cactus blooms everywhere. all i want to do is hike and eat every meal outside. what are you looking forward to most about spring?

this has been my favorite remix of this dress thus far. you can see how i styled it here and here. i have to admit, i really love how this shopping budget freeze has brought out more of my creative side. so far this fall, i've had quite the obsession with this little sweater. it's kind of the perfect color and just right when it's just the slightest bit cool. of course, it hasn't officially felt like fall around here yet, but i'm a little stubborn and insist on wearing a sweater. the high this weekend is set to hit 72, and you know what that means...scarf weather! hope you are all having a great week!
