Here's part outfit post, part my favorite animals at the zoo. I was invited last minute to the Wildlife World Zoo by my in-laws, and with the gorgeous weather we've be having, I jumped at the chance! This zoo is huge, which is great because they have such a variety of adorable creatures to look at, as well as an aquarium.

Here's the look I put together for the 20s party we went to last weekend. I was really proud of myself for not spending any money on it, except for about $6 for the ribbon. I love theme parties, but to be honest, I dread the money I'm bound to spend on an outfit I will most likely not wear again. I was happy I was able to pull everything from my own closet, except for the gorgeous beaded bag, which I borrowed from a friend. All in all, I think this look was a success :)

Little Green, Have a Happy Ending

This has been my favorite little spring/summer dress for the past two years, but it's somehow never made it on the blog. I love how comfortable and versatile it is. As a bonus, it has the most adorable little dandelion print embroidered on it. I have a pretty fun weekend ahead of me. Nick and I are going to a 20s party on Saturday night. I'm pretty excited about turning this mop into a faux bob, layering on the heavy eye make-up and living the Gatsby lifestyle for a night. What are you doing this weekend?

Note to self: don't lean up against a dirty fence and not expect to get dirt all over your clothes. I didn't notice the smudge till I was editing these photos. Just awesome :) It's been kind of a bummer of a week around here. It's been hotter than ever with excessive heat warnings. We spent a total of about five minutes snapping these before running back to the car for relief!

Ladylike Sunday

I've been a little behind on taking outfit photos lately. Not because I haven't had the time. It's just a little hard for me to want to stand outside in 112 degree weather for any amount of time other than the time it takes me to run from the air conditioning inside to the air conditioning in my car. Today was still hot, but it's monsoon season. This means it's still blazing hot during the day, but closer to sunset, a storm will usually start to come in. That is the only time it is even slightly bearable to stand outside and smile for a camera. With that said, I apologize in advance if my outfits are a little fewer and further in between until fall. I hope you all had a great weekend! I was working on my vlog a little today, and I won't lie, it's a very awkward seeing yourself on video. There are a lot of um's an uh's and nervous laughter. It's gonna be great ;)

We Didn't Notice Any Time Pass

tomorrow is officially the first day of summer! i have a pretty fun weekend ahead of me. today, i get to spend my monthly friday with my bestie. these days always include hunting for amazing estate sales, a cocktail by the pool and plenty of girl talk. it's one of the days each month that i look forward to the most! i'm so thankful that i get to spend as much time with her as i do. she used to live about and hour and a half away in prescott. she and her husband moved down to phoenix a couple of years ago. we got to go from seeing each other a handful of times a year, to having a standing play date once a month! i'm so thankful to have her so close now. hooray for best friends!

this week was chalk full of lots of work commitments that kept me busy late into the evening, coupled with several days of not feeling good. i was so happy to finally have a full weekend of rest to look forward to. my husband and i were both a little under the weather, and have pretty much slept out entire weekend away. i think a little r&r is exactly what you need to reset and recharge, don't you think? how was your weekend?

i was suffering a little from the Monday blues today. You know the ones you get after you go back to work after a lovely weekend. There wasn’t even anything terrible that happened. Everything just felt blue, no matter how much coffee I had. I thought this dress would be appropriate to match the overall feeling of the day. Pairing it with my cherry red clutch was just the brightness I needed to add a little cheer to my day. do you have any go-to items you wear to bring a little cheeriness to a day that's a little blah?

well, friends, it's here. triple digit temperatures. this means the end of beautiful hikes, outdoor eating and cool evenings. time for lots and lots of flowy dresses and top knots :)

 i'm so excited to be headed out to california for the long weekend. it's been way too long since i felt the cool ocean breeze and had fresh delicious seafood. i'm also excited to see friends and family that we don't get to see often enough. california friends, i'm ready for fish and chips on the pier!
