As a kid growing up in the 90s, I've gone through pretty much every terrible style phase you could go through. I was in middle school from about '97-'99. This was about the time it was very cool to wear white eyeliner with green mascara (oh, yes I did) and long psychedelic dresses with sneakers (again, guilty). I was little too young to participate in the grunge era of the early 90s. Although I was a fan of the music (could never get into that boy band stuff) and an avid fan of My So-Called life after it was already canceled, I never got the chance to wear my flannel with Doc Martins and sing along to the haunting lyrics of Kurt Cobain when it was current. That's why I'm a little excited that the 90s has returned to fashion. I'm looking forward to the cooler fall days when I can break out the flannel listen to my Gin Blossoms station and pretend for a moment that times are simpler again.
(Brooke, those Birks were added just for you. I still think they're the ugliest shoe ever ;)
haha, i'm still on the fence about birks. i mean, they have seriously been around forever...i had some very similar waaay back, but not sure if i wanna jump on that bandwagon again.
ReplyDeletei'm really happy that a lot of 90s trends are coming back too. i'm all for flannel, daisies and crops, but definitely not sold on birks either.

The look 90's, love it! I had a birks! Love this daisy dress !!
ReplyDeleteI remember the 90s well. Yes, I did the whole flannel and Doc Martins thing. But I have to say, I didn't love everything about the 90s. I'm loving that flannels and daisies are back but don't know about birks and crops. ~Cynthia
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I'm saying this, but Birks are actually starting to grow on me! Still haven't taken the plunge though... and I LOVE your picks here, so pretty!! xoxo
